Opening Lecture: “Caro: Close Up-A Private View”

Julius Bryant, Keeper of Word & Image, Victoria and Albert Museum, London

Sir Anthony Caro is internationally renowned for the large, freestanding abstract steel sculptures that he makes with his assistants in his London workshop. This lecture introduces an exhibition devoted to the more private side of his art, the smaller, intimate works he has composed throughout his career, for nearly sixty years, in a variety of materials, including ceramic, paper, and silver.
