Contact Improv Workshop with ADAY

Elise Knudson, NY based dancer/dance-maker

ADAY and the Dance Studies Curriculum have a number of exciting workshop series coming up, including a series of 3 Saturday workshops on contact improvisation offered by NY-based guest artist Elise Knudson.

Whether you are familiar with contact improv or are asking yourself “contact what?” this is a great opportunity to spend some time dancing and learning with your classmates. Come join us!

Elise Knudson is a New York based dancer/dance-maker who works with cross-disciplinary materials and ideas. Originally inspired by Nikolais technique, her training and interests have expanded to include digital collaborations, aerial dance, vocal explorations and various forms of improvisation. She has created over thirty long and short works which have been presented in New York City, Canada and Mexico. She recently earned an MFA in dance through the Hollins University ADF/MFA low residency program and currently dances with Risa Jaroslow and Koosil-ja/DanceKumiko. She has had the pleasure of dancing for Luke Gutgsell, Phantom Limb, Noemie LaFrance, Jody Oberfelder and other wonderful people. She is currently a guest artist at Dance New Amsterdam (NYC), guest choreographer at Manhattanville College (Purchase, NY) and is looking forward to teaching at Yale in the spring.
