Film: “A Room With a View” (1985)

A discussion with actor Julian Sands will follow the screening.

Directed by James Ivory (not rated; 117 minutes). Based on the novel by E.M. Forster. A young English woman traveling through Italy with her stern chaperone struggles between strict, old-fashioned Victorian values and new, more liberal principles. A discussion with actor Julian Sands and director James Ivory will follow the screening. Sponsored jointly by the Yale Film Study Center and the Yale Center for British Art. Screening at the Whitney Humanities Center, 53 Wall Street.

This screening is part of the Center’s film series, “The Traveler in Italy,” that will accompany the exhibition “The English Prize: The Capture of the Westmorland, An Episode of the Grand Tour” (on view October 4, 2012-January 13, 2013).
