The Yale Belly Dance Society presents a belly dance class series from June 11 to August 13, every Monday from 5:30-6:30 pm, at the International Center (421 Temple Street). Free for Yale students, $3 for Yale faculty/staff and affiliates, and $5 for non-Yale dancers. During the workshop, we will teach a series of choreographies starting from basic belly dance to more complicated choreographies involving the use of props such as veils. This class series will focus on performance and choreography — even if you’ve never belly danced before, by the end of the class we hope you will be able to perform a short dance that will amaze your family and friends!
The workshop will be appropriate for beginner or intermediate level dancers (dancers with previous belly dance experience are free to join the class in July). During the last couple weeks, we will focus on creating individual choreographies for members of the class to perform at a small belly dance get-together for family and friends.
