“Oliver Twist”

(J. Stuart Blackton, 1909)

Directed by J. Stuart Blackton (not rated; 9 minutes, silent). In 1909, Vitagraph Company of America released a conventional, unmodernised version with the actress Elita Proctor Otis playing Nancy Sykes. In this film, Nancy is assailed off camera by Bill Sykes, but struggles back into shot for a prolonged operatic-type death sequence.
