YSFF17 Workshop: Ethics in Documentary Filmmaking

Rachel Dretzin ‘87 is an award winning producer and documentary filmmaker. She is the co-founder of Ark Media, a thriving production company based in Brooklyn. Rachel graduated from Yale with a degree in history, and has been producing documentaries since the mid-1990s, with a focus on films that critically explore contemporary American life and culture. She has produced and directed numerous films for PBSFRONTLINE, including “Merchants of Cool,” “Digital Nation,” “The Lost Children of Rockdale County,” and “Failure to Protect.” Her films have been honored with the Emmy award, the Peabody, the Du-Pont Columbia award, the RFK Journalism Award, and the NAACP Image award. Rachel’’s latest film, “Far from the Tree,” a feature documentary produced in partnership with Participant Media, is slated to be released in 2017-18.
