Painters are often thought of as isolated individuals, whereas actors are thought of as members of a team. Thus, the two artists will incorporate this collaborative aspect of theater into their painting, fusing their styles to form one cohesive piece. Oshman and White will explore original prints and engravings of Shakespearean-influenced artwork at Beinecke and the YCBA to study how the visual depiction of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” has morphed over time. The final exhibition will include reproductions of their sources and influences, along with their preliminary studies for the larger painting.
