Yale Summer Cabaret – “50 Nights: A Festival of Stories”
The K of D; Of Ogres Retold; The Secret in the Wings
Yale Summer Cabaret announces its 38th Season: 50 Nights: A Festival of Stories, led by Tanya Dean (Artistic Director) and Reynaldi Lolong (Producer). This season, the Yale Summer Cabaret will explore the rich theatrical tradition of storytelling with three provocative and deeply moving productions that will spark the imagination. Imagination burns most brightly in the simple act of storytelling. Stories are how we imagine ourselves – who we are, where we have come from, and what we wish to become.
Additionally this year, following select performances, audiences will be invited to join us outside in the Cabaret garden and gather around a fire pit, and hear a short story read aloud. Each week, a different theme will tie the stories together – ‘Magic Realism,’ ‘Every Love Story is a Ghost Story,’ ‘New Haven Tales.’ With just a narrator, a warm fire, and the stars overhead, we envision this as the perfect way to cap off an evening of theatre. The Fireside Series occurs each Thursday and Saturday during the season and after select performances.
