“Medicine in Shakespeare’s London”

Location is wheelchair accessible
The Medical Historical Library of the Harvey Cushing/John Hay Whitney Library has a distinguished collection of books, prints, drawings, and medical instruments, with strengths in early anatomy, surgery, botanicals, and disease. In Spring 2012, the Library will exhibit “Medicine in Shakespeare’s London,” composed of a selection of books, manuscripts, prints, and other materials from the Medical Historical Collection. Shakespeare used numerous references to medicine in his plays, and this exhibit will pick up on themes from Shakespeare’s works, such as plague, midwifery, domestic medicine, herbals, astrological medicine, surgery, and other medical topics from the time period.
